Bealin re-appointed by Wexford
1995 All-Ireland winner Paul Bealin has been re-appointed as manager of the Wexford senior footballers for a second year.
The Dubliner, who beat his former team mate Charlie Redmond and ex-Louth boss Paddy Carr to the job last November, had a difficult first season in charge of the Model men.
Bealin's charges won only one National League game - against Meath in March - as they were relegated from Division 1B.
Their championship summer began in fine style in May with another victory over the Royals - Mattie Forde struck 0-12 as Wexford ran out 1-19 to 1-13 winners in their Leinster SFC opener.
However, they were out of the All-Ireland reckoning by mid-July as a Leinster semi-final loss to Offaly was followed by a tight qualifier win over Monaghan and a final slip-up against Fermanagh.
There was added disappointment as Wexford bowed out with their star forward Forde watching on from the stands. The Kilanerin clubman earned a three-month ban for stamping on Offaly defender Shane Sullivan during the Leinster semi-final.
Bealin is obviously hopeful for a better campaign next season. His assistant Padraig O'Gorman from Adamstown is remaining on, with a third selector due to be added in the coming months.
