McCarthy replaces Gould for Cork-Kerry clash

Cork manager Billy Morgan has brought Conor McCarthy back into his side for Sunday's All-Ireland SFC semi-final showdown with Kerry (Croke Park, throw-in 4pm).

McCarthy, who has not started since the Rebels' Munster championship win over Limerick in June, takes the place of Fintan Goold at centre-forward.

That is the only change to the Cork team that started the All-Ireland quarter-final defeat of Donegal.

McCarthy, from the O'Donovan Rossa club, was used as a substitute in Cork's last three games, and came on for Goold during the second half of the Donegal game.

Defender Michael Prout and left-sided forwards Kevin McMahon and John Hayes have all retained their starting places, despite being substituted last time out.

Sunday's tie is the third clash between Cork and Kerry in the space of six weeks - Morgan's side emerged victorious after a replay in the Munster final.

The arch rivals met at the All-Ireland semi-final stage last year with Kerry running out comfortable 1-19 to 0-9 winners, while in 2002, the Kingdom also came out on top - beating Cork by 3-19 to 2-7 - for a place in the All-Ireland final.

CORK (SFC v Kerry) - A Quirke; M Prout, D Kavanagh (capt), K O’Connor; M Shields, G Spillane, A Lynch; P O’Neill, N Murphy; S O’Brien, C McCarthy, K McMahon; J Masters, D O’Connor, J Hayes.
