Dublin lose under-21 hurling appeal
The Erin Leinster Under-21 hurling final will not be replayed after the Dublin County Board lost their appeal against the decision of the Leinster Council.
The Dubs were angered when their midfielder Willie Lowry was sent off in error during last month's final against Kilkenny.
At a hearing of the Leinster Council at the start of the month, it was ruled that the error made by referee Fergus Smyth, who only booked Lowry once, did not consistute grounds for awarding a refixture.
Kilkenny won the game at Nowlan Park by 2-18 to 2-10.
The GAA's Central Appeals Committee (CAC) was called upon to review the case at the weekend, and they ruled that the Council had not made any errors in how they heard the original appeal.
The CAC did not rehear the case, but ensured that the original hearing did not contravene any rules of an appeal.
Kilkenny clash with Galway in next Saturday's All-Ireland U-21 semi-final in Tullamore.
