Officials to meet over postponed Ulster final

New York GAA chairman Seamus Dooley is to fly to Ireland next weekend in an attempt to iron out the issues surrounding the postponed Ulster SHC final.

The decider between Antrim and New York was originally scheduled for next Sunday at Belfast's Casement Park, but likely visa problems for the Exiles' panel of players have forced the game to be called off.

A surprise win for New York's hurlers over Derry saw them qualify for the final for the first time.

Dooley is to ask the Ulster Hurling Council and the Antrim County Board to re-fix the final for an American venue, neutral or otherwise, in August.

But Antrim do not want to travel Stateside due to the huge costs involved - plus Jim McKernan's men have a busy summer schedule, beginning with their Christy Ring Cup opener against Down on June 10.

Ulster Council secretary Danny Murphy has admitted that there is a chance the game will never be played with the title being awarded to Antrim.
