Salthill-Knocknacarra through to club final

AIB ALL-IRELAND CLUB FOOTBALL SEMI-FINAL:

Salthill-Knocknacarra (Galway) 1-09 Kilmacud Crokes (Dublin) 1-07, Pearse Park

Galway senior Sean Armstrong turned in a man-of-the-match display as his four-point haul sent Salthill-Knocknacarra into next month’s AIB All-Ireland Club Football final.

Salthill got the better of Dublin side Kilmacud Crokes, who had inter-county forward Mark Vaughan red carded with seven minutes remaining, at Pearse Park.

Despite a poor start, Crokes led 1-04 to 1-02 at the interval. Salthill’s John Boylan (five mins) and Crokes marksman Conor Murphy (26) traded goals.

With Crokes held scoreless for 18 minutes in the second half, points from Armstrong and two placed balls from captain Maurice Sheridan confirmed Salthill’s win.

SCORERS – Salthill-Knocknacarra: S Armstrong 0-04, M Sheridan 0-03 (2f, 1 '45'), J Boylan 1-00, M Donnellan 0-02. Kilmacud Crokes: M Vaughan 0-04 (4f), C Murphy 1-00, P Burke, D Magee, J Magee (1 '45') 0-01 each.
