New Antrim manager Jim McKernan wants retired midfielder Jim Connolly to go back on his decision to quit the inter-county hurling.
McKernan has named Connolly in a 57-man panel for the 2006 season in the hope of coaxing the O'Donovan Rossa clubman back on the scene.
The 31-year-old Connolly, Antrim's captain in 2005, announced his retirement in the aftermath of the Saffrons' Relegation Section final defeat at the hands of Laois in July.
The 1-15 to 1-23 loss condemned Antrim to Tier Two hurling next season, and McKernan is counting on Connolly, who won six Ulster SHC medals between 1994 and this year, as well as experienced trio Gregory O'Kane, Malachy Molloy and Conor McCambridge to get the Saffrons back to winning ways.
Antrim are in Walsh Cup action against Offaly on January 29 next.
