McEniff, Moran to be interviewed for Mayo position
Former Donegal boss Brian McEniff and ex-Derry supremo Mickey Moran have been invited to attend interviews next week for the vacant Mayo senior football manager's position.
The duo are scheduled to join seven other candidates - Denis Kearney, Eamon Clarke, Thomas Jordan, Martin Trench, Kieran Gallagher, Liam Kearns and Sean Finnegan - in being interviewed for the job from next Wednesday, October 12, onwards.
Mayo County Board chairman Paddy Naughton made the announcement at the latest meeting of the board in Castlebar. All candidates will have the option of meeting the selection committee on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday night next week.
Former All-Ireland-winning manager McEniff has a distinct interest in Mayo given the fact that he owns a hotel in Westport, and is a regular visitor to the town.
Moran, who has also managed Sligo and Donegal, is going forward together with his assistant John Morrison.
Despite having agreed a fresh three-year deal last October, John Maughan quit as Mayo manager in August after watching his side lose 0-18 to 2-15 to Kerry in an All-Ireland SFC quarter-final.
