Tipp manager announcement imminent
The Tipperary county board are expected to confirm the county's new senior hurling management team at a meeting in Thurles tonight.
The board will convene at the Sarsfield Social centre at 8pm to discuss the likely successor to outgoing boss Ken Hogan and his selectors.
An eight-man sub-committee, led by county board chairman Donie Shanahan, has been charged with the task of finding the best replacement for Lorrha man Hogan, who was admittedly "very disappointed" at not being given a third year at the helm.
The rumour mill has been in overdrive in the county with former All-Ireland winning managers Nicky English (2001) and Babs Keating (1989 and '91) seen as the front runners.
However, 1989 hurler of the year English has all but ruled himself out of the running publicly.
Tipperary natives Paudie Butler, who stepped down as Laois boss this year, and Dinny Cahill, who ended his managerial term with Antrim's hurlers in July, are also thought to be in contention for the post.
