GAA: Development roles for camogie stars
The Camogie Association has confirmed appointments for three key development positions within the game.
Limerick woman Lynn Kelly has been appointed National Camogie Development Co-ordinator, while two of the game's outstanding players - Mary O'Connor of Cork and Caroline Murray of Galway - will take on the roles of Regional Development Co-ordinators.
The appointments were made following the allocation of €250,000 by the Irish Sports Council earlier this year. €1.5m was set aside in the budget by the Minister for Arts Sports and Tourism, John O'Donoghue to develop the games of camogie and hurling.
Miriam O'Callaghan, President of the Camogie Association, said: "The appointment of the National and Regional Co-Ordinators is the cornerstone in the implementation of camogie's strategic plan for the development of the game.
"The combined experience and skills that Lynn, Mary and Caroline bring to the positions will ensure that the work of our many volunteers will be supported and enhanced."
This year's All-Ireland camogie final will take place at Croke Park on Sunday, September 18, between Cork and champions Tipperary (throw-in 3.15pm).
