Cooper fitness boost for Kerry
There's bad news for Mayo - All-star corner forward Colm 'Gooch' Cooper is back in training for Kerry's All-Ireland SFC quarter-final clash with the westerners this Sunday.
The Dr Crokes marksman, who struck 3-12 in the Kingdom's almost effortless run to the Munster title last month, injured his groin recently but resumed training with Jack O'Connor squad on Friday, following a two-week break.
It's safe to say Mayo's defensive unit have been having nightmares ever since Cooper, then 21, bagged 1-5 against them in last year's Sam Maguire decider.
Meanwhile, Tyrone boss Mickey Harte will have as near full-strength a squad as possible to choose from for Saturday's quarter-final tie with Ulster foes Monaghan.
Asked about his squad's health, Harte said: "We'd be happy enough. Ciaran Gourley and Colin Holmes are the only two still out; otherwise everybody else should be okay."
Defender Ryan McMenamin is due to face a disciplinary hearing relating to an incident in the Ulster final replay, so the Red Hands may have to plan without him.
