Limerick backs Croker motion
The Limerick County Board last night backed opening up Croke Park for rugby and soccer, overruling the stance taken at the county's convention.
This was due to the fact that the understanding at the time was that all Rule 42 motions were for an indefinite opening of the stadium.
However, once a temporary opening was proposed (ie for the time that Lansdowne Road is being redeveloped) the county board was willing to send the matter back to the clubs.
Meanwhile, the Cork County Board meeting on Rule 42 went on late into the night.
The counties are crucial in terms of votes on the issue at next weekend's annual GAA Congress.
