Kildare pile on the misery for Sligo
Kildare 2-14 Sligo 1-07
Bottom side Sligo's final act in this year's Division 1B was a disheartening one - as Kildare emerged 2-14 to 1-07 victors at Newbridge.
Tadhg Fennin reacted quickest to a mix-up in the visitors' defence on 13 minutes to help Kildare into a seemingly unassailable 1-08 to 0-01 lead - with Derek McCormack the chief points-getter.
The Yeats men did reduce the deficit to six points by the break, thanks to a Dessie Sloyan goal, but the westerners were never in the hunt in the second half.
Fennin was Kildare's star man - scoring three second half points - in what proved to be a good outing for the Lilywhites, despite their failing to qualify for the league's latter stages.
