Dubs face daunting tie against Galway
Dublin boss Humphrey Kelleher takes his charges to Pearse Stadium where they face a daunting Division 1A National League opener against champions Galway.
Tomas McGrane returns to the side at top of the left after a year out for personal reasons.
However, injuries have deprived Kelleher of free-taker Dave Curtin, Shane Martin, Derek O'Reilly, Stephen McDonnell, David Donnelly and Cormac O'Brien.
The Dubs have named six newcomers in the side, with Tom Russell, Sean O'Shea, Damien O'Reilly, Greg Bennett, Jonathan Kingston and Eoin Moran all making their debuts at Pearse Stadium.
Meanwhile, All Star corner-back Ollie Canning is set to line out for Galway in midfield today.
Manager Conor Hayes cannot call on the services of his Athenry contingent, who are preparing for next month's All-Ireland club final.
Hayes has opted to named debutants Colin Coen and Andy Smith in the side.
Canning will leave the defence and partner David Hayes in midfield.
In the other game in Division 1A, All Star Tommy Walsh makes the move from wing-back to centre-back for All-Ireland finalists' Kilkenny's encounter with Munster champions Waterford at Walsh Park.
Regular centre-back Peter Barry is unavailable due to his involvement with James Stephens in next month's All-Ireland club final, so the young Tullaroan man deputises.
Cats boss Brian Cody has also named three newcomers on the side - John Tennyson at right corner-back, Bryan Barry at midfield and Richie Power at top of the right. DJ Carey is named among the subs. John Hoyne is at full-forward.
Meanwhile, former Munster championship-winning skipper Fergal Hartley is set to make his return to inter-county action for Waterford today.
The Ballygunner man has been named by Justin McCarthy at centre-back after coming out of self-imposed retirement after two years.
Hartley lines out in the heart of defence flanked by All Star Ken McGrath and Brian Phelan.
Clinton Hennessy makes his debut in goals for the Decies, with Stephen Brenner on the bench. Jack Kennedy, who scored three points as a substitute in last year's All-Ireland semi-final against the same opposition, also comes into the side.
