Cork hurlers 'won't be drawn into slagging match'
The Cork hurling management has refused to get involved in a ‘slagging match’ with members of the Antrim board, following the Saffron County manager Dinny Cahill’s taunts over certain Cork players.
Cahill yesterday told two newspapers that he would send Brian Corcoran back into retirement, and that Niall McCarthy was a dreadful centre-forward.
“Cork had to recall a man (Corcoran) who was finished playing. Well he will be finished after Sunday, there’s no doubt about that,’’ Cahill said.
Cork selector Fred Sheehy says that there will be no reaction to the comments Leeside.
“I must say I was surprised when I heard what he said. But he is entitled to say what he wants,” Sheehy said.
“However, if he wants us to respond, he is wasting his time.”
