Tipperary have withdrawn from the new All-Ireland B Championship - the Tommy Murphy Cup - for counties beaten in the All-Ireland football qualifiers first round.

Tipperary refused to play their first round qualifier in a dispute with the county board over club games, and handed opponents Fermanagh a walkover.

Manager Andy Shortall and his selectors resigned over the dispute and the squad has not trained together since.

County board officers met with the County Football Board last night and it was decided to withdraw the team from the secondary competition.

Tipperary could still be punished for giving Fermanagh a walkover in the qualifiers.

County board representatives face the Games Administration Committee on the matter in Croke Park next week.
