Fermanagh bye confirmed as Tipp boycott

Croke Park chiefs have confirmed Fermanagh will receive a bye into the second round of this year's All-Ireland qualifier system.

But Tipperary's move to pull out of this Saturday's qualifier tie could have serious implications.

Tipp boss Andy Shorthall and his selectors quit their posts en bloc after a club fixture which involved two players, Michael Webster and Tom King, was allowed go ahead last night.

The Tipp board had looked for a postponement of Saturday's match with Fermanagh but the GAA refused, leaving the Premier County out of the All-Ireland championship after their defeat to Limerick.

A Tipp statement read: "We would like to acknowledge the outgoing selectors for their contribution and work with the Tipperary Senior Football panel since taking office in November 2003."
