Kerry boss O'Connor rules out Fitzgerald return

Kerry football manager Jack O'Connor has ruled out any return from retirement for county legend Maurice Fitzgerald.

The St Mary's club man hasn't played since the 2001 All-Ireland quarter-final defeat to Meath under Páidí Ó Sé, but it had been rumoured that he was keen to return.

Boss O'Connor played down the links and said: "That's not an issue at the moment. Maurice is struggling with a leg injury. I think he has ligament trouble.”
