Derry and Kildare record important wins in Division 2B

Elsewhere in Division 2B, Kildare continue to head the proceedings after their 0-13 to 0-11 defeat of a previously unbeaten Wicklow in Aughrim.

John Doyle, Padraig Brennan and Derek McCormack all helped themselves to three points apiece as Rathnew favourite Trevor Doyle was the shining light for the home side, notching six points.

Kildare forward Tadhg Fennin was forced off with an injury after he hit two first half points also.

Bradley, who had been suspended from Derry’s opening three league games, hit his first goal after just fifteen seconds against the South East men and ran up 3-7 of his eventual tally by the break.

In the second half Conleth Moran and Conleth Gilligan, a penalty, netted for Derry, who now have four points from their four outings.

14-man Down had to be happy with a draw against provincial rivals Antrim at Casement Park, after Liam McGourty picked off a late equalising point for the Saffrons.

Peter McCann set up a fisted Paul Close goal that gave Antrim a 1-5 to 0-4 lead at half time.

Tyrone whistler Michael Hughes dismissed Ronan Murtagh for his involvement in a second half scuffle, but the Mourne county came back into the game when Gregory McCartan hit a late goal, set up by Liam Doyle, and point to put them in front before McGourty struck.

Multiple All star Declan Browne guided his side up to third in the table, level on points with second-placed Wicklow, with his 0-10 tally, four points from play, in Tipperary’s 0-16 to 1-10 success over Louth.
