Waterford IT are on course to retain their Fiztgibbon Cup title, after goals from Kilkenny's All-Ireland medal winner Brian Dowling and Waterford forward John Phelan helped them see off UCD 2-9 to 0-13 in this afternoon's first semi-final in Athlone.

Tomorrow's final could see UCC contest the decider for the first time in six years, after their forwards have scored nine first half points to lead 0-9 to 1-5 at the break against Limerick IT, whose goal came from double All-star winner Eoin Kelly of Tipperary.
