GPA react with joy to Kahn court case

The Gaelic Players' Association have reacted with glee to the landmark court ruling in the case of Bayern Munich soccer star Oliver Kahn who won out in a battle over image rights.

Kahn took the makers of the computer game FIFA 2002 to court for using his image on the front cover and the court eventually ruled in favour of the former World Cup finalist.

It's a real blow to GAA top brass who had hoped to use players' names and images in an upcoming computer game despite the fact that the GPA own the image rights.

GPA chief Dessie Farrell said: "It's a significant development for the GPA because we have our members image rights signed over to us.

"I feel Oliver Kahn has set a precedent and both the GAA and Sony will have to take notice of this."
