GAA chiefs confirm All-Ireland final reschedule

The GAA will move the 2006 All-Ireland football final from its usual slot late in September to accommodate the Ryder Cup golf tournament.

The inter-continental event will run from September 22 to September 24 which would mean a direct clash with the football final on the third Sunday of the month.

A European golf chief said: "The GAA have been most helpful in ensuring that The Ryder Cup and the All-Ireland football final will not take place on the same day."
