Antrim set up potential Wexford upset

Antrim 2-05, Wexford 0-06 (half-time)

Two goals in the space of a minute-and-a-half at the end of the first half have given Dinny Cahill's Antrim side a surprise five-point lead at the interval in Croke Park.

Wexford began the brighter, edging into a 0-6 to 0-4 lead after 26 minutes, thanks to points from Larry Murphy and Mitch Jacob.

The Ulster side kept in touch with scores from Colm McGuckian and Liam Richmond, but hit 11 wides in the opening period.

The Leinster finalists struck nine wides and conceded their first goal on 34 minutes.

Damien Fitzhenry misjudged the flight of a slippery 65 metre lob from Ciaran Herron and managed to flick it behind him and into his own net.

It got worse for John Conran's men in the first minute of injury time when a Brian McFall cross from the 10m line was not dealt with by the defence and half-forward McGuckian was allowed to hammer a shot in Fitzhenry's net.
