Champions Armagh overcome Dublin
Armagh 0-15 Dublin 0-11
Armagh's Paddy McKeever and Dublin goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton saw red as a second half orange onslaught, which included a run of six unanswered points, saw Joe Kernan's All-Ireland champions march on in the second qualifier at Croke Park.
As often seems the case, Tommy Lyons will look back on a first half wide tally of seven with much distain. Armagh wore Dublin down as Steven McDonnell landed three frees at the start of the second period to kick the Ulster side into gear.
Dublin were strong in the first half which saw them lead by double scores 0-8 to 0-4 at the interval.
However, chances taken by McDonnell in the first quarter of the second half, and three points from play from John McEntee, saw a victory for the better organised team.
Despite this, Paddy McKeever saw red for a punch on Darren Homan just five minutes into the second half.
Stephen Cluxton was also dismissed on 42 minutes for a lunge at McDonnell.
Jason Sherlock notched Dublin's first point of the second half on 52 minutes.
However, substitute keeper Brian Murphy saw his kickouts consistently fielded by orange jerseys.
McGrane imposed himself on the game and the true strength and confidence of All-Ireland champions came through with late scores from John McEntee and Diarmuid Marsden, confirming a humiliating exit for Dublin.
A goal was needed, but never looked likely.
