Tipperary outclass Offaly
Tipperary 4-14 Offaly 1-08
Tipperary corner forward Lar Corbett was the hero of the hour as the Premier county breezed past Offaly in the NHL first-round tie at Nenagh.
Corbett scored 3-3 of his side's total in a one-sided affair.
Tipperary made all the running in the first half with Corbett getting two goals to set them on their way.
A goal from captain Brian O'Meara before he departed the scene through injury left the home team with 3-06 to 1-04 interval advantage - Offaly's goal coming from Damian Murray at the end of the first quarter.
The second half was all Tipperary as well with Eoin Kelly grabbing five points and man-of-the-match Lar Corbett getting his hat-trick with a third strike.
This is a disappointing defeat for Offaly who although without their Birr contingent didn't show much appetite for the game. Tipp on the other hand looked sharp and fit for the fare.
