Limerick cruise to U21 three-in-a-row

Limerick cruised to their third consecutive All-Ireland U21 title at Thurles as they easily disposed of a Galway side who never posed a threat.

A goal in either half from minor Andrew O'Shaughnessy and a tap-in goal from Mark Keane saw the Shannonsiders build up a lead they were not to relinquish.

Keane added six points overall and O'Shaughnessy added a further two as the champions led by 12 at the break.

Richie Murray opened the scoring for Galway and Ger Farragher added three frees, but the Tribesmen were in trouble with 30 minutes remaining.

The second-half went from bad to worse as O'Shaughnessy's second goal saw Limerick lead by 15 points, just as Galway were reduced to 14 men.

Substitute midfielder JP O'Connell was sent to the line for a foul on Maurice O'Brien, but the writing was on the wall long before the dismissal.
