Hurling: Limerick book Munster final place
Limerick 4-11 Waterford 2-14
Limerick came back from 11 points down to book a place in the Munster final against Tipperary in Cork in three weeks.
In the end, a single goal separated the sides but the scoreline flattered Limerick a little.
Waterford raced into the lead from the outset grabbing two goals in the first 15 minutes and then a string of points which left Limerick 11 points down.
Limerick reduced the deficit by half time courtesy of a goal from centre forward Ollie Moran.
Limerick set the pace in the second half and, helped by a stiff breeze, began to convert their scores.
Three Limerick goals in the second half - one from James Butler and two from full-forward Brian Begley - put Limerick in the lead.
Waterford got the lead down to two points but a Paul O'Grady free brought it back to a three-point difference.
Waterford now have a long hard summer ahead of them and Limerick are guaranteed at least two more matches - the first of which will be their Tipperary encounter.
