GAA: Goff Injury Blow for Wexford

Wexford have been dealt a devastating pre-championship blow with news that star young attacker, Barry Goff, is likely to miss out on their Leinster senior hurling championship semi-final.

Goff, one of the forward fines of the league campaign, suffered a broken bone in the back of his hand during their final league game defeat to Kilkenny.

The corner-forward, according to Team Manager, Tony Dempsey, will be out of the game for a further four weeks, leaving little time for hurling preparation in the lead up to the game.

It was only last week that the injury was diagnosed.

"The hand was very swollen and once the swelling subsided the x-rays showed a broken bone. It’s a tough blow for us and the player," added Dempsey.

Meanwhile, Dempsey has also confirmed that defender Rod Guiney will play no part in the provincial semi-final.

"Rod Guiney, due to injuries is going to take a break from the game. His recurring injuries has militated against him taking part in intensive training so necessary for inter-county at present," said Dempsey.
