It went on: "Suffice to say, as we have done throughout, the Galway Camogie Board have at no time made any attempt to directly or indirectly influence the team selection or tactical approach adopted by the Galway Senior Management team.

"Whilst the change in senior manager was obviously a difficult decision we are firmly of the view that it was the right decision for Galway Camogie. Failing to get past Cork in the Senior Camogie semi-final was a major disappointment however 2017 was a very successful year for Galway Camogie on many other levels - winning our historic three-in-a-row All Ireland Championships at U16A level and also winning an All Ireland at Minor A level.
