Leinster Council chairman John Horan has described the decision to take Dublin to Nowlan Park last summer as a “cautious” first step forward.

Opponents Laois were furious that the game wasn’t played in Portlaoise and their anger was piqued by Wednesday’s confirmation that the back-to-back All-Ireland champions may belatedly play in Portlaoise next summer.

If Carlow beat Wexford in the first round of the Leinster championship, then Dublin will play them in Portlaoise. Otherwise, the Dubs will travel to Innovate Wexford Park.
