Ken McGrath autobiography out in October
McGrath won All-Star awards in hurling in three different lines of the field, and is one of a handful of players to have played minor, U21, and senior hurling championship in one season.
He has impressed in appearances on The Sunday Game hurling panel this year and is currently manager of his club senior hurling team, Mount Sion.
His autobiography is expected to deal with a tumultuous hurling career which featured epic clashes with Cork, Tipperary, Clare, and Kilkenny, the famous 2004 Munster final and his exploits with his club as they enjoyed a lengthy rivalry with Ballygunner on the local scene.
Controversial periods, such as a lengthy suspension for grabbing a ref during a club game and the departure of Justin McCarthy as Waterford senior hurling manager, will also be revisited.
However, it is also expected to deal in some detail with McGrath’s near-death experiences, such as a bleed on the brain and a heart problem which required open-heart surgery.
He is also expected to discuss the failure of his sports shop in the economic downturn.
McGrath’s autobiography will be released in mid-October and is published by Black and White Publishing of Edinburgh.
