Éamon Fitzmaurice couldn’t fault his team’s effort in the opening quarter but their execution was another matter and it left them gasping for air. Dublin rattled off the first four points and could have had a goal to boot had Brian Kelly not produced a superb save low to his right after Philly McMahon burst through and targeted the Kerry net. It allowed Kerry to breathe and set the foundation for the epic to come.
