Cork GAA Club round-up: Glen’s second-half surge too much for Barr’s

 It was all about the Intermediate hurling championship in Cork this weekend.

Glen Rovers 2-24 St Finbarr’s 2-13

A strong second-half performance from Glen Rovers proved too much for Finbarr’s in Páirc Uí Rinn on Sunday morning. Evan O’Connell hit 1-6 for the Glen with Barry Hackett adding six points. Mark Dooley got Rovers’ other goal. Ciarán Greene and Eoghan Hill got the Barr’s goals, while Glen keeper Declan Hourihan had to make three outstanding saves.

Dungourney 1-20 Aghabullogue 2-16

Ryan Denny scored 12 points for the winners, four from play, and Cork minor Matthew O’Brien Bradley hit a huge 1-15 tally for Aghabullogue, mostly placed balls, his late goal almost bringing the contest to extra-time until a last gasp Denny free won it for Dungourney.

Ballincollig 3-10 Barryroe 1-12

Captain Ian Coughlan was the hero for Ballincollig, bagging 3-1 in a four-point Round 2B win. Tadhg Harrington hit eight points to help keep Barryroe in touch, but despite a string of second-half wides, Ballincollig held on for a deserved win.

Midleton 0-13 Inniscarra 0-8

Midleton came out on top against Inniscarra in Caherlag on Sunday night. Cormac Beausang steered the ship for Midleton, scoring six frees and two points from play as the east Cork side dominated possession. Inniscarra made the most of their limited time on the ball, with Dylan O’Sullivan and Stephen Dornan hitting four and three points respectively.
