Limerick SHC: Na Piarsaigh lose again and now need winning surge

Six days after losing to Kilmallock, they fell to Doon on Saturday, 2-18 to 1-19, and must now win their three last group games to continue the defence of their county, Munster and All Ireland honours.
Doon flew from the traps and were 1-2 to 0-0 clear inside three minutes with Barry Murphy getting the goal. The goal divided the teams at half time, 1-9 to 0-9. An early second-half goal from Kevin Downes had Na Piarsaigh ahead briefly and for the only time. Darragh Stapleton hit back with Doon’s second goal and points from Murphy and Darragh O’Donovan saw them hold on for victory.
Kilmallock were 4-17 to 0-16 winners over South Liberties . An Oisin O’Reilly goal had them 1-10 to 0-5 clear at half time. Another O’Reilly goal and two from Graeme Mulcahy saw them ease to the win.
Adare won 1-16 to 0-13 over Ahane, who were 0-7 to 0-5 ahead at the break. An Andrew O’Connell goal and points from Willie Griffin, Declan Hannon, and John Fitzgibbon ensured the win.
Ballybrown had a big margin to spare over Bruree, 4-25 to 2-9. The winners had two goals from Shane Kenny and one each for Bryan Griffin and David Hall. Alan O’Connor registered 11 points.
There was a draw between Knockainey and Murroe-Boher last night, 1-15 to 0-18. An injury time Padraic Barron point from a lineball ensured the share of the spoils for promoted Knockainey.
A Robbie Lonergan goal had Knockainey in the early lead but it was level by the break, 1-9 to 0-12. A tally of 0-10 from free-taker Paudie McNamara looked to have won it for Murroe-Boher until the late Knockainey leveller.
Patrickswell were 3-26 to 1-11 winners over Bruff. Cian Lynch, Kevin O’Brien and Aaron Gillane had the winner’s goal. Chris Browne had the Bruff goal in the first half.
