Wicklow GAA is in mourning this week following the death on Sunday of Peter Keogh (86) after a brief illness.

President of the county board, Keogh was believed to be the oldest working journalist in the country, as he continued to write reports and commentary for The Wicklow People and The Nationalist, while also a regular contributor to KCLR 96FM.

One of the people credited with introducing hurling to his local club Kiltegan, which was founded just a few weeks before he was born on May 23, 1929, Keogh became secretary of the West Wicklow Board before progressing to become the first county board PRO.
