When part of a Galway hurling set-up, such criticism is commonplace. It is, says the selector, par for the course.
The Irish Examiner columnist, two-days out from the county’s All-Ireland semi-final clash with Tipperary, wrote that “Hurling culture in Galway is the very opposite of what obtains in Tipperary. Most of the time, alas and alack, the second word in the nickname ‘herring chokers’ is the operative one”.
