Leo Jones anxious to drive Bishopstown on

A total of 110 days have passed since Bishopstown’s last Cork SFC game – a win over O’Donovan Rossa in the first round – and tonight’s fourth-round clash with Clyda Rovers in Páirc Uí Rinn (6.45pm).

The city club have reached the semi-finals in each of the past two years, losing to Nemo Rangers in the penultimate round in 2013 and Carbery Rangers last year. On the hurling front, a final appearance in 2012 hasn’t been built on and the club have a relegation play-off against Killeagh hanging over them.

Three SHC games – losses to Bride Rovers, Sarsfields and St Finbarr’s – have been played since the win over Rossa on the May bank holiday Monday, limiting the access football management have had to dual players. Manager Leo Jones is happy to have been able to focus on the challenge of Clyda since the start of August, however.
