New skipper Donaghy back in Kerry team for Dublin showdown
Austin Stacks’ run to the All-Ireland Club SFC semi-final has precluded Donaghy’s involvement until now, but following their defeat to Derry’s Slaughtneil a fortnight ago he is included at full-forward.
Barry John Keane is the player to make way for Donaghy. The other change since the win over Derry in the last round sees Anthony Maher come in for Tommy Walsh at midfield alongside David Moran.
Goalkeeper Brian Kelly has returned from injury but he is named as a sub while Ger Kealy continues at number 1. Peter Crowley and Paul O’Donoghue are also on the bench having been passed fit again.
There are four changes for Cork, who travel to Ballyshannon to face Donegal as they seek to make it three wins from three. Michael Shields returns from injury to captain the side from full-back while Jamie O’Sullivan is picked at right half-back as Conor Dorman and the injured Brian O’Driscoll miss out. With Ian Maguire still ruled out with a back problem, Fintan Goold comes back into midfield alongside Mark Collins and, in attack, Kevin O’Driscoll takes the place of Paul Kerrigan.
Mayo host Monaghan at Elverys MacHale Park and there are five alterations since the loss to Tyrone. Robbie Hennelly replaces David Clarke in goal and, in defence, Tom Cunniffe comes in for his first game since last year’s All-Ireland semi-final loss to Kerry. Michael Hall misses out.
Patrick Durcan takes the place of Colm Boyle at left half-back and in midfield Séamus O’Shea slots in for the injured Mickey Conroy while Cillian O’Connor is named at left half-forward, Alan Freeman dropping out. Monaghan are unchanged from the side pipped by Cork.
Tyrone, who face Derry, have also decided to keep faith with the same 15 which started against Mayo.
