Brogan’s late strike for DIT proves winner against Wexford
Paul Brogan struck for the crucial goal eight minutes into additional time as DIT snatched a last gasp victory over an experimental Wexford side in this O’Byrne Cup clash at Páirc Uí Siochain, Gorey, yesterday. The additional time came about as Kieran Butler received a severe elbow injury.
But an understrength Wexford side, who trailed 0-12 to 0-8 with 11 minutes of normal time remaining, staged a remarkable recovery, kicking six unanswered points, three from Ben Brosnan, to lead by two points seven minutes into added time.
However a lapse in the home defence allowed DIT’s Conor Grimes cross for Brogan to finish off.
