Dungiven in final after feisty battle

Eoin Bradley and Gerard O’Kane were both sent off as Glenullin’s championship challenge was ended by Dungiven.

Dungiven in final after feisty battle

The 2007 champions had Paddy Bradley in sublime form at full-forward and raced into an early 0-5 to 0-1 lead. But Dungiven reeled them in, just as they did in a famous 2009 semi-final meeting.

Glenullin led 0-10 to 0-9 into the final 10 minutes but Donal McGilligan put Dungiven in command with a stunning finish, after which things became tetchy. Gerard O’Kane was given a straight red for striking and Eoin Bradley soon followed after a midfield melee. Dungiven’s Darrell O’Kane went on a second booking and his team-mate Sean O’Kane, having already been substituted, was also red-carded.

They will now face Slaughtneil, hugely impressive winners over Kilrea last night.

With Gerald Bradley and Christopher Bradley racking up 0-7 between them, they ran out 0-19 to 0-9 winners.

The other semi-final between Ballinderry and Coleraine is on Thursday night.
