Blow for Harte as key duo quit
Both men were integral elements in the county’s last two All-Ireland triumphs, having joined the set-up in 2005.
Donnelly and McCann, both from the Augher club, yesterday announced they are stepping down.
Harte had faced calls to freshen up his backroom team following the Red Hands’ early exit from the All-Ireland race, when they lost to neighbours Armagh in a qualifier at Healy Park.
The three-time All-Ireland-winning manager paid tribute to the pair, saying: “I wish to thank both men for their loyal support during the challenges we have faced over the past 10 seasons. They have given great service to Tyrone and to myself during their tenure and I wish both the best for the future.”
A county board statement made no mention of any impending new appointments, but chairman Ciaran McLaughlin said he wanted to thank Donnelly and McCann for the “massive contribution” they have made during their 10 years with the squad.
