Kerry start Geaney in place of injured O’Brien

There is just one enforced change to the Kerry side for Sunday’s All-Ireland SFC quarter-final clash with Galway at Croke Park (2pm).

Kerry start Geaney in place of injured O’Brien

Stephen O’Brien, who scored a point from corner-forward in the impressive Munster final win over Cork, has sustained a quad muscle injury so Michael Geaney of Dingle comes into the side. He is named at number 10, the shirt O’Brien wore against the Rebels, but Declan O’Sullivan operated at centre-forward on that occasion despite being named at full-forward. He retains the number 14 but should he move out again, Geaney could link up with his cousin and clubmate Paul in the inside line alongside James O’Donoghue.

The only other alteration to the side from that 12-point win sees Bryan Sheehan selected at midfield alongside Anthony Maher with Johnny Buckley named in the half-forwards, reflecting the pre-throw-in switching of the two players.
