Champions Piarsaigh and Doon keep unbeaten tags

Champions Na Piarsaigh remain unbeaten but needed a late David Dempsey goal to finally kill off Effin, 2-17 to 2-10.

The champions led 1-6 to 1-4 at half-time, their first goal coming from Kevin Downes, while Tommy Quaid was on the mark for Effin. Quaid again goaled to leave it 2-9 to 1-13 with just seven minutes to play. But Dempsey goaled to seal the win.

Another unbeaten side are Doon, who were 0-21 to 3-11 winners over Patrickswell. Doon were 0-11 to 1-3 up at half-time with Kevin O’Brien getting a lucky Patrickswell goal.

Doon appeared to be coasting when eight points clear with five minutes to play. But in injury-time Patrickswell found two goals — from Cian Lynch and Diarmuid Byrnes.

Ahane were 1-17 to 0-15 winners over Murroe-Boher who led 0-11 to 0-9 at the break and midway through the second half they were three points clear.

But Ahane struck late and were helped by a 51st minute goal from Richie Ryan.

Granagh-Ballingarry got their first win of the campaign with a 1-18 to 2-13 win over South Liberties. They were set on their way with a first minute Niall Kennedy goal. But Ciaran Carbery and William Hickey goaled for South Liberties to leave it 1-11 to 2-3 at half-time.

Adare were 3-22 to 1-14 winners over Knockainey. They led 1-9 to 0-7 at the break with Willie Griffin goaling. Griffin and Lucas O’Brien had second half goals as they went 3-13 to 0-12 clear. Padraic Barron goaled for Knockainey but Adare finished strongly to secure victory.

Kilmallock made it two wins from three when defeating Ballybrown, 0-23 to 0-13. They were 0-12 to 0-10 up at half time.
