Brady: Senior success a must
The young forward maintains his county has as much rising talent as any other in Ireland but none of the players have any senior medals and it remains a big monkey on their backs, losing McKenna Cup and Division 3 finals already this season.
“We have quality. You don’t win four Ulster U21s in a row without having quality. It was great to be part of it but it’ll count for nothing if we don’t win something at senior level.
“We’re all well aware of that. So we really have to kick on now and not just rest back and say, ‘oh yeah, I’ve got three Ulster U21 medals’. We all know we have to kick on.”
Canny punters believe last season’s All-Ireland quarter-finalists are a good outside bet for a first Ulster title success since 1997. But they’ll have to achieve a rare win in Armagh first to secure a shot at Monaghan or Tyrone.
Brady says another big target is to win a game at Croke Park. He has played there three times with Cavan senior and U21 teams and lost the lot.
“Winning a game in Croke Park would be a massive boost. It’s something we haven’t done in a long time. That’s another monkey we need to get off our backs.”
