Louth’s Lennon hails merits of advantage rule

The new advantage rule is of far greater benefit to forwards than the black card, according to Louth footballer Shane Lennon.

Several inter-county managers have voiced their concern that defenders are reluctant to commit in the tackle amid fears of picking up a black card, but Lennon eyes the advantage rule as the more important weapon in a forward’s arsenal.

“You have five seconds to get your shot away and if you miss the referee will bring it back for a free,” he said.
