Kerry star Declan O’Sullivan, despite a leg injury, rescued Dromid Pearses (0-16 to 1-13) in a thrilling Kerry JFC quarter-final at Churchill yesterday.

O’Sullivan was forced off in normal time with the complaint but battled through the pain to play a central role in extra-time. The former All-Ireland captain landed an incredible late equaliser from the near the sideline after Killian Fitzgerald’s penalty looked to have fired Churchill into the semi-finals.

Glenbeigh/Glencar, even without Darran O’Sullivan, look the team to beat in the competition as they blitzed Fires 4-16 to 1-6 with Gavin O’Grady and Pa Kilkenny impressing in attack.

In the senior club championship, Killarney Legion defeated an understrength Kerins O’Rahilly’s (3-9 to 0-9) with David O’Donoghue, David O’Sullivan and Billy McGuire all finding the net.

Austin Stacks overcame Milltown/Castlemaine 1-11 to 0-10 in their replayed toe. The Mid Kerry side led 0-5 to 0-4 at the interval but impressive showing from Kerry U21 attacker Shane Carroll and a goal midway through the second-half from Mikey Collins, edged them through to the semi-finals.

In the Intermediate club, Castleisland Desmonds had a narrow 1-6 to 0-7 win over Gneeveguilla with Thomas Hickey netting a 38th minute penalty.

In the County League Division 1, Dr Crokes made it three wins from four, beating Listowel Emmets 2-18 to 0-14. Chris Brady got both goals while Daithi Casey and Kieran O’Leary kicked some fine points. Conor Cox was top scorer for the losers. Dingle got a vital win over Currow (0-14 to 1-9) with Kerry seniors, Paul and Mikey Geaney, catching the eye.
