Gavin hails Dublin’s great mental strength and refusal to panic

Deep into stoppage time, Dublin were out of the NFL, but manager Jim Gavin had no doubts about the character of a team that has survived many near-disastrous situations.

Diarmuid Connolly was the man with ice coursing through his veins and, crucially, had the ability to turn a half chance into a match-winning strike which secured a place in next weekend’s semi-final.

“Yeah, it is a great trait that this team has,” Gavin said of the refusal to panic.
