We’ll just have to dust ourselves down

Waterford manager Derek McGrath kept his troops in their dressing room 70 minutes after yesterday’s heavy defeat.

We’ll just have to dust ourselves down

Upon emerging, he insisted the reason for the delay wasn’t a bloodletting but preparation for next weekend’s Division 1A relegation play-off with Dublin.

“Basically we were just planning for the match next week,” explained McGrath. “Obviously, there are implications when you’re playing in a relegation play-off. What way we’re going to train during the week, where the match will be on. Just who we’ll be playing, what our approach will be. Obviously, when you come up and you’re representing your county and your families and your clubs, etc, you don’t want to be beaten in the fashion we were beaten. But we just have no choice but to dust ourselves down and that’s what we’ll do.”
