Donegal secretary annoyed at Croker fixtures reprimand
The Football Review Committee referred to their decision to postpone their championship next year until after the county’s All-Ireland campaign finishes, describing it as “a fundamental and potentially disastrous development”.
Croke Park asked Donegal to explain their reasoning behind the move, which was made by senior and intermediate clubs after speaking to Jim McGuinness.
“I don’t why Donegal are being picked out,” said Ó Fearraigh. “Other counties have done it. What we wanted to achieve was to give a bit of certainty to club players when their games will be fixed because in the past it hasn’t happened.
” Our chairman and Central Council delegate spoke with Croke Park about how it basically came to be. I don’t know if they (Croke Park) were satisfied or not with the information because I wasn’t there.
“Our clubs had the option to stage championship games earlier in the summer but they chose not to avail of it.”
