“We never got going,” he said. “They had their homework done on us. We tried to go with our running game but they were physically too strong and they won midfield.
“I don’t know if the occasion got to us or what, our handling in the first half was poor and we couldn’t get good ball into John Corkery.
“They’re a seasoned outfit and they showed it there today.
“In fairness to our lads, they worked hard.
“They’re very young and hopefully they’ll learn from this. Maybe you have to lose one to win one but fair play to Grenagh, they deserved the win, we have no gripes about it.”
The greater experience that Grenagh could call upon was a vital factor in determining the outcome, especially after Aghabullogue got back to within a point in the second half following two John Corkery points.
“It looked like it but they took over again,” Cronin said. “They just seemed to squeeze us, you look at them and think you might be able to get a run on them but they’re so cute.
“The big day know-how really stood to them whereas we couldn’t get going at all in the first 10 minutes. Our lad were very nervous but they’re only young fellas and they’re after a great year.
“You couldn’t fault them, it’s a pity they didn’t run them a bit closer but that’s sport.”
