Murphy: Skill factor still vital part of game

Murphy: Skill factor still vital part of game

The Kerry forward last week said it’s “an unwritten requirement” to be “6ft 4ins and built like a tank” but last year’s All-Ireland winning skipper begs to differ.

“If I had the skill of Colm Cooper I wouldn’t be complaining. Even more so in the modern game I think there is room for every type of player if you look at the ways team are setting up. It could be a creative player to pick holes, a powerful player to win ball or an athletic player to get up and down the pitch so there is room for every type of player in a squad and I think squads will show that as the summer progresses.”
